Using the Traffic Cop (Code Routing)

The Traffic Cop is iStall's code routing system. It evaluates the code a user enters during registration and directs them to the appropriate parking type and registration flow.

How it works

When a user enters a permit code at a Traffic Cop-enabled location, the system checks which code group the code belongs to. Based on the code group, the user is automatically routed to the correct parking type — for example, one code group might route to the Stall Picker for reserved carport selection, while another routes to Open Permit Parking for a standard vehicle registration.

When to use Traffic Cop

Traffic Cop is designed for properties that offer multiple parking types from a single Location ID. Instead of showing all parking types to every user, Traffic Cop uses the code to determine which option is relevant.

Configuration

Traffic Cop is configured at the lot level. You define the code groups and map each group to its target parking type and registration flow. The routing logic is automatic once configured — no manual intervention needed per registration.
