Managing Buildings and Units

Properties with multiple buildings or units can be configured to track parking allocation at the unit level. This enables per-unit permit controls, phone number associations, and resident-specific parking management.

Adding buildings and units

Buildings and units can be added individually through the admin interface or imported in bulk. Each unit can have its own parking allocation settings, including the number of permits allowed and which code groups apply.

Per-unit permit allocation

iStall uses a three-layer permit allocation system:

1. Lot default — A default number of permits that applies to all units unless overridden.
2. Per-unit override — Override the default for specific units that need more or fewer permits.
3. Additional permits — One-time-use exception permits for units that need temporary additional access. These are consumed on use and the unit reverts to its default or overridden count.

Uploading units in bulk

For properties with many units, you can use the bulk upload feature to import unit data rather than entering each one manually. This is covered in the onboarding process.
