iStall: Common Reasons Parking Appeals Are Denied
If you receive a parking violation notice, you may submit an appeal for review. However, appeals are sometimes denied when the available evidence shows that the parking rules were not followed.
Below are some of the most common reasons parking appeals are not approved.
The Vehicle Was Not Registered
Many properties require visitors to register their vehicle before parking. If a vehicle is parked in a visitor stall without an active registration, the violation may be upheld.
The Parking Session Had Expired
If a registration or paid session expired before enforcement occurred, the violation may still be valid even if the vehicle was previously registered.
The Vehicle Was Parked in a Restricted Area
Parking in restricted areas such as fire routes, reserved stalls, or unauthorized spaces may result in a citation even if the vehicle is registered elsewhere on the property.
The Appeal Does Not Include Supporting Information
Appeals that do not include relevant details or supporting documentation may be denied if the available enforcement evidence confirms the violation.
Examples of helpful documentation include:
• Registration confirmations
• Receipts for paid parking
• Written authorization from property management
Permission Claims Cannot Be Verified
If an appeal states that permission was granted by property management but no confirmation is provided, the citation will generally remain active until management verifies the authorization.
